Enric Guaus defends his PhD thesis entitled “Audio content processing for automatic music genre classification: descriptors, databases, and classifiers" on Monday 21st of September of 2009 at 11:00h in the Auditorium of the Communication Campus of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Roc Boronat 138, Barcelona).

In this thesis a method is proposed for the automatic music genre classification by using a computational approach that is inspired in music cognition and musicology in addition to Music Information Retrieval techniques. Several experiments are dessigned and performed by combining the different elements that may affect the accuracy in the classification, in particular different audio descriptors and different machine learning algorithms.
